30 INDIAN FISHERMEN ARRESTED BY NAVY
Sri Lanka Navy has arrested another 30 Indian fishermen for violating the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) and venturing into Sri Lankan waters.
The fishermen along with their 8 trawlers were arrested in seas off Delft Island last night, navy spokesman Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya said.
The arrested fishermen will be taken to the Kankesanturai Fisheries Port and handed over to the fisheries inspector in charge of the area, he said.
This is the third instance where Indian fishermen have been arrested for entering Sri Lankan waters following the talks held between fishermen representatives from the two countries.
